Ards International Guitar Festival is celebrating Guy Clark's life and music with a film by Tamara Saviano - a biography cemented in the Texan’s legacy, which explores the intimate triangle of the subject, his wife Susanna, and Townes Van Zandt.
A live music set follows the screening by Barry Johnston and David Neill.
The name Guy Clark is one that those who appreciate American Folk and Country music regard as one of the most revered singer songwriters of our time.
Guy Clark didn’t just write songs -he crafted them, with a kind of hands-on care and respect that a master carpenter would when faced with a stack of rare wood. Guy’s attention to detail was staggering and his songs told the stories of ordinary people in a most extraordinary way.
With 13 albums and a Grammy Award in a career spanning four decades, Guy produced an impressive collection of 13 albums of timeless gems such as ‘LA Freeway’, ‘Desperados Waiting for a Train’, ‘The Cape’, ‘Dublin Blues’, ‘Let Him Roll’ and many more.
The Ards International Guitar Festival is celebrating Guy’s life and music with a film by Tamara Saviano - a biography cemented in the Texan’s legacy, which explores the intimate triangle of the subject, his wife Susanna, and Townes Van Zandt.
The film is followed by a live set from two of Ireland’s foremost aficionados of Guy’s work - Barry Johnston (acoustic guitar) and David Neill (acoustic bass), from the band Illegal Smile.
