Ralph McLean’s Sunday afternoon brunches have become one of the most popular items on the festival programme, and this year looks like being pretty special, as the award-winning broadcaster brings his attention to bear on one of the greatest rock albums of all time – Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours.
The album, originally released in 1977, has been prominently playlisted recently since the death of Christine McVie last November. But to be fair, it has been a heavily-rotated classic for four and a half decades, packed as it is with evergreen classics like ‘Go Your Own Way’, ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘Dreams’, ‘The Chain’ and of course, McVie’s own poignant classic ‘Songbird’.
A key element of the album’s success is the fiery, melodic playing of guitarist, singer and composer Lindsey Buckingham. While Ralph will home in on Buckingham’s approach to the material, he will also examine the viper’s nest of relationships, break-ups, jealousy and tension that fuelled the writing of what remains some of the band’s finest material.
As always, Ralph’s talk will be beautifully illustrated with pictures, audio and video clips from the material, and patrons will be able to enjoy some coffee and snacks throughout the whole affair.
Early booking advised to avoid disappointment!
