Fronted by Sam Davidson, one of Northern Ireland’s most revered blues/rock players, this 21st Century version of Taste offers an energetic and authentic flavour of the iconic blues/rock band from the 60’s/70’s, famously associated with the late great Rory Gallagher.

After Rory’s death in the mid-90s, the band had re-formed by popular demand, and also because rhythm section John Wilson and Richard ‘Charlie’ McCracken were keen to keep the sound and energy of the trio alive. At that time, guitar and vocal duties were taken up by Sam, who had played with John in The Belfast Blues Band and Sk’boo. With Sam as frontman, the band toured and recorded a series of albums through the 2000s.

In 2018, Taste took some time out from the road to concentrate on a new studio album Dream Pusher featuring the haunting instrumental ‘Titanic’, a personal tribute by Sam to the legendary Gary Moore.

Unfortunately due to ongoing health issues, John Wilson retired from the drum stool - and was replaced by Sam’s lifelong friend Lyn McMullan.

Sam and Lyn are continuing to keep the Taste name, music and energetic style of playing alive as ‘Sam Davidson’s Taste’ with the great Ali McKenzie coming in on bass.
