One of our finest home-grown talents, David Browne Murray's distinctive approach is influenced by everything from film scores and electronica to choral and orchestral music.

Belfast-based fingerstyle guitarist David Browne Murray studied at Belfast School of Music before earning a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. He went on to win the Ards Guitar Festival Young Guitarist Competition in 2004 and later claimed the Grand Prize in Lee Ritenour’s Six String Theory Competition in Montana in 2011.

Since returning to Belfast, David has remained an active force in the local music scene. He has toured Ireland as guest of renowned guitarists including Frank Vignola, Andy McKee, Jan Akkerman and Gareth Pearson, and opened for Tommy Emmanuel in a sold‑out Ulster Hall – the pair later went into the studio to record a duet.

His distinctive approach is influenced by everything from film scores and electronica to choral and orchestral music. A decade after his debut Lift and Drag, he returns with Square One, recorded at Belfast’s Dock Street Studios, and featuring original compositions beloved by his regular live audiences.
